This 1930 antique snuff box is fashioned from warm brown burr wood with a distinct burr wood grain pattern, integrated wooden hinge, and visible natural wood knots. The equestrian style container features a raised horse head relief carving on the lid, alongside signature markings and an inscription of the horse name Windsor Lad. Additional visual details include a signed artist mark near the bottom right of the carving, a curved lid profile, and tightly joined wooden construction. Measuring 9 cm wide by 7 cm deep, the box has a compact rectangular footprint. This gentleman's library accessory sits neatly on an office desk as a decorative catch-all container for small trinkets or keepsakes, or functions as a display piece within an equestrian themed collection.

Snuff boxes were created to store pulverized tobacco leaves used for sniffing, becoming popular personal accessories across Europe from the seventeenth century onwards.

Craftsmen utilised dense hardwoods, burr timbers, horn, tortoiseshell, and metals, often incorporating integral wooden hinges and hand-relief carvings.

Authentic pieces show natural age-related patina, hand-carved details with individual tool marks, and era-specific subjects such as notable racehorses or sporting events.

Position the box on an office desk, coffee table, or styled bookshelf alongside vintage leather books and brass accents to complement a classic decorative scheme.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply a small amount of neutral microcrystalline wax occasionally to protect the wood grain and carved relief.
