This interesting FRENCH PRESSED BURR MAPLE SNUFF BOX dates from circa 1820.The Lid is decorated with a scene taken from a Lithograph by H. LECOMTE and H. VERNET of 1817 entitled ‘BLESSES FRANĒAIS ATTAQUES PAR DES COSAQUES’. The underside of the base has an intricate geometric design.There is some damage to the rims, which is shown in the photograph, and the inside collar, which holds the two pieces together, is missing.
