This set of six rustic farmhouse dining chairs dates to the early 1900s and is constructed from solid oak with a light brown bleached timber finish. Each chair features a shaped crest rail above three vertical back slats, a solid wooden seat, turned front legs, plain rear legs, and connecting stretchers near the base. The construction shows pegged joinery and visible wood grain patterns running throughout each frame. The chairs measure 109 cm high, 46 cm wide, and 41 cm deep, with a seat height of 45 cm. They provide practical seating for a kitchen or dining room table in a traditional or country-style interior.

FAQs

Farmhouse dining chairs typically feature sturdy solid wood construction, vertical slat or ladder backs, shaped crest rails, and turned or tapered legs suited to daily domestic use.

English and European country chairs were primarily crafted from solid oak, ash, elm, or beech, often assembled using mortise and tenon joinery and wooden dowels for structural longevity.

Authentic pieces generally display hand-turned legs, subtle joint irregularities, peg construction, and natural wear or patination around the stretchers and seat edges consistent with age.

Pale or bleached oak dining chairs can be paired with contemporary dining tables, concrete surfaces, or stone flooring to add natural texture and timber tones to minimalist interiors.

Dust the wooden surfaces regularly with a dry, soft cloth, avoid placement near direct heat sources, and apply a clear matte microcrystalline wax periodically to protect the timber without altering its colour.
