This circular wall mirror belongs to the Regency style and dates from the 1920 period. The piece consists of an ebonised wooden frame finished in black, framing a convex glass plate, and incorporates metallic spherical silver ball embellishments spaced around the outer rim alongside a reeded inner trim. Traces of historical craftsmanship appear in the moulded framing profiles and the polished metallic sphere hardware. Measuring 42 cm high and 42 cm wide, the mirror scales to compact residential settings. Today, homeowners place this decorative mirror in living rooms, hallways, or dining spaces above a mantelpiece or console table to create visual depth and reflect interior light. The neutral black and silver palette coordinates with traditional and contemporary room schemes alike, while the convex glass provides a wide-angle reflection of the surrounding interior.

Convex mirrors feature outward-curving glass that offers a wide-angle field of view. They gained immense popularity during the Georgian and Regency periods, often placed in dining rooms to allow household staff to observe service discreetly.

Frames are typically crafted from hardwood painted or stained black to imitate ebony wood, often featuring turned wooden or metallic spherical embellishments, reeded sightlines, and curved mirror glass.

Authentic pieces frequently exhibit hand-carved joinery on the wooden backing, subtle signs of natural oxidisation or silvering distortion on the glass, and aged patina around the raised ball mouldings.

Position the mirror opposite a light source or window to maximise light reflection and create a wide-angle perspective in entryways, above mantelpieces, or within gallery wall arrangements.

Dust the frame regularly with a soft dry cloth and clean the glass using a dedicated glass cleaner applied to a microfibre cloth rather than spraying directly onto the frame.
