The quality is outstanding, they are beautifully constructed from solid mahogany with a gorgeous design and wonderful carving. They are a great size and very handy for use as hall chairs or side chairs around the home.

We have had them recently re-polished, the condition is excellent for their age. They have a gorgeous patina and colour tone, there are just some small marks and indentations here and there beneath the polish, commensurate for age.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The William IV style, spanning roughly from 1830 to 1837, bridges late Regency and early Victorian design, typically featuring robust proportions, classical motifs, and heavy use of dark tropical hardwoods.

These chairs were predominantly crafted from dense, durable hardwoods such as mahogany and oak, selected for their structural integrity and capacity to accept crisp hand-carving.

Authenticity is determined by examining traditional joinery techniques, timber grain characteristics, hand-carved detailing, and natural surface wear consistent with nineteenth-century production methods.

Pairing period wooden seating with clean-lined modern architectural elements creates a sophisticated contrast that highlights the craftsmanship and rich timber tones.

Maintain the timber by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, applying periodic applications of traditional beeswax, and dusting gently with a soft dry cloth.
