Regency convex mirrors, often called bullseye or bankers mirrors, gained popularity in early 19th-century Britain as functional and decorative pieces that provided a wide-angle reflection of a room.

These mirrors are typically constructed from carved softwoods or gesso over pine, featuring applied compo ornaments and hand-gilded with gold leaf or bronze paint surrounding a curved glass plate.

Authentic pieces often exhibit period-appropriate joinery, hand-carved details, foxing or warping in the original curved glass plate, and layered gesso showing age-related craquelure underneath the gilding.

A convex mirror works effectively as a focal point on a focal wall, reflecting light and expanding visual space in traditional or eclectic modern living rooms and hallways.

Clean the surface gently with a dry microfibre cloth, avoid harsh chemical cleaners that can damage the delicate gilt finish, and keep the piece out of direct sunlight and high humidity.
