We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

William IV furniture, popular roughly between 1830 and 1837, bridges the Regency period and early Victorian eras, typically featuring robust classical proportions, heavy scrollwork, and rich dark timbers like mahogany.

These pieces are predominantly crafted from solid tropical hardwoods, specifically Cuban or Honduras mahogany, joined using traditional mortise and tenon techniques with hand-turned legs and scroll-carved crest rails.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut joinery, aged timber patination, subtle tool marks beneath the seat frame, and dense, heavy mahogany construction rather than modern veneers over secondary softwoods.

Pairing dark wood period seating with a contemporary minimalist dining table creates a striking textural contrast, grounding the room while maintaining a sophisticated balance between old and new.

Keep wooden furniture away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber splitting, and clean periodically using a soft, dry cloth without applying modern silicone-based polishes.
