Box dressing mirrors, also known as toilet glasses, became widely popular during the late 17th and 18th centuries in Europe as dressing habits and the availability of high-quality glass evolved.

These mirrors were typically constructed from fine hardwoods such as mahogany, walnut, or oak, often featuring secondary woods like pine or cedar for drawer linings, along with hand-silvered glass plates.

Authentic pieces often display hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawers, old secondary woods, slight imperfections or foxing in the original mirror glass, and traditional turning on the support arms.

This piece can be placed atop a modern minimalist console table or a sideboard to introduce historical texture, warm wood tones, and reflective depth into a room.

Maintain the wood using microcrystalline wax rather than modern silicone polishes, and clean the glass gently with a soft cloth and a minimal amount of water or dedicated glass cleaner, avoiding harsh chemicals near the frame.
