This pair of wall mirrors dates to 1900 and follows a Regency style. The construction employs dark brown rosewood with a polished finish, incorporating a moulded timber frame and a rectangular profile fitted with an original deep bevelled glass plate. The mirrors come supplied with a set of eight brass fixing plates. Measuring 162 cm high, 47 cm wide, and 1.8 cm deep, these tall, narrow items fit neatly into restricted layouts. In a contemporary home, such pieces suit a narrow wall space in a hallway, bedroom, or living room. They offer practical utility for checking attire while reflecting light to brighten compact or shadowy areas of the interior. The slim proportions allow placement in tight architectural spots where wider hanging decorations cannot fit.

A pier mirror is a tall, narrow mirror historically designed to be mounted on the pier, or structural wall space, situated between two windows to reflect natural light into the room.

Traditional pier mirrors were framed in fine hardwoods such as rosewood or mahogany, or carved pine with gilded finishing, housing bevelled glass plates.

Authentic pieces feature the distinct grain and rich dark tones of genuine rosewood, original timber backing boards, and hand-cut joinery alongside natural age marks on the mirror plate.

Position them symmetrically to flank a doorway or fireplace, hang them side-by-side above a sideboard, or place them in narrow hallway alcoves to enhance natural light.

Dust frames regularly with a soft microfibre cloth, apply bees wax sparingly to preserve the wood finish, and clean glass carefully without allowing moisture to pool near the timber edges.
