A beautiful and rare harlequin (matched) set of sixteen country chairs made from ash, elm, oak and fruitwood. There are some trace of old defunct woodworm as you would expect but they have all been treated as a precaution. Forerunner to the Clisset style and all of a rich colour and patination. Not a heavy chair but very sturdy, due mainly to the six dowelled stretchers, the front one attractively turned. Very difficult to find such a good close matching long set and in marvellous condition for their 250 years of use.
