Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Country Georgian oak armchairs are characterised by solid timber construction, vasiform or splat backs, shaped top rails, and sturdy turned or square legs. Designed for practical regional homes during the 18th and early 19th centuries, they combine functional durability with restrained classical influence.

These chairs were primarily constructed from solid native oak, joined with traditional mortise and tenon joints and wooden dowels. Seats were often fitted with drop-in or drop-over upholstered pads utilizing natural horsehair padding and natural textile covers.

Authentic period pieces show signs of age-appropriate wear, hand-planed surfaces, subtle asymmetry in hand-turned legs, and deep oxidation or patina within the wood grain. Check joint construction for pegged timber rather than modern screws or machine-cut dowels.

Place them at either end of a contemporary timber dining table as head-of-table carvers to add historical contrast. Alternatively, style them as a symmetrical pair flanking a fireplace or console table in a hallway or study.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to feed the wood and maintain its rich lustre. Keep the chairs away from direct heat sources such as radiators to prevent timber shrinkage or splitting.
