Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

These nineteenth-century English country Windsor armchairs form a near pair of wooden seating pieces made from warm brown elm and beech. Each chair has a bentwood hoop back, a shaped elm seat with visible grain, and a central back splat carved with a wheel motif flanked by slender spindles. The arms curve outward, joining the seat above turned legs connected by stretchers. The timber shows natural variations in grain tone across the arms, backs, and seats. Measuring 87 cm high, 54 cm wide, and 41 cm deep, these armchairs suit placement around a rustic farmhouse dining table or as individual accent seats in a living room, hallway, or study. The traditional wheelback design provides practical support while maintaining a classic domestic profile suited to period and country-style interiors.

A wheelback Windsor chair is a traditional style of country seating featuring a solid timber seat into which the legs and backrest spindles are directly jointed, characterised by a central pierced back splat with a wheel motif.

These chairs were traditionally crafted using regional timbers such as elm for the shaped seat, beech or ash for the steam-bent hoops, and oak or yew for turned legs, constructed using wedge joints without traditional cabinetmaking frames.

Authentic period pieces typically exhibit hand-carved splat details, wear patterns on the seat from use, hand-turned legs, irregular spindle dimensions, and wedged tenon joints visible on top of the seat.

They work well as accent seating in modern country kitchens, placed alongside clean-lined dining tables, or positioned individually as desk chairs in study spaces.

Dust regularly with a soft cloth, apply high-quality beeswax polish periodically, and position the timber away from direct heat sources to prevent shrinkage or splitting.
