Shaun King Antiques has dated this Antique Oak Wainscot Chair to the 17th Century.
It is of good colour and patination and stands well. Beautiful, simple, original carving to the top rail with light decoration to the top of the arms.

The CHAIR has the additional interest of a small, engraved, silver plaque fixed to the back. It states the CHAIR was given as a gift to SIR GEORGE MASTERMAN GILLETT, JP in 1937. This illustrates a short part of this CHAIR'S journey from the 1600s to the present day.

Over the years it has developed a few creaks and there are some repairs to the seat.
