Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of French chairs from 1900 functions as small fireside, bedroom, or occasional seating within a home. Each armchair has a fully upholstered barrel back and a rounded seat with a rolled edge, covered in coarse, neutral beige hessian fabric fastened with decorative metal studding along the framework. The backrest curves continuously into low arms, enveloping the sitter. Four dark-stained, turned wooden legs support the upholstered body, displaying ring turnings down their length and terminating in simple rounded feet. Discolouration and slight wear marks appear across the fabric surfaces, reflecting their age and past use. These compact chairs measure 76 cm high, 58 cm wide, and 66 cm deep, making them suitable for placement beside a fireplace, in a corner of a bedroom, or as supplementary seating in a living room.

A crapaud chair is a type of low-slung French upholstered armchair that emerged during the 19th century, featuring an integrated curved backrest and padded arms.

Traditional construction incorporates a solid timber internal frame, coil springs, horsehair or fibre stuffing, hessian webbed bases, and turned timber legs.

Authentic period examples exhibit traditional upholstery methods such as hand-driven tacks, original webbing, low seat heights, and hand-turned ebonised or stained wooden front legs.

These chairs are frequently styled as bedroom accent seating, positioned in reading nooks, or kept in deconstructed calico lining for modern neutral interiors.

Textiles require soft-brush vacuuming to remove surface dust, while timber legs should be treated with natural beeswax and kept away from direct heat sources to prevent cracking.
