FAQs

Tub chairs, also known as barrel chairs, feature a continuous semi-circular backrest that curves smoothly into integrated armrests, creating a supportive enclosed silhouette first popularized in the eighteenth century.

These chairs were typically constructed using durable hardwoods such as teak, oak, or mahogany, assembled with traditional mortise and tenon joinery, and fitted with leather or woven textile upholstered seats.

Genuine mid-century examples feature solid timber frames with precise joinery, natural grain variations, integrated structural stretchers, and traditional upholstery attachment along the frame rails.

A pair can be arranged flanking a side table, positioned opposite a sofa to create a conversation zone, or utilized as accent seating in a home office or hallway.

Wipe the wooden frame with a soft microfiber cloth and apply natural beeswax polish periodically, while treating leather elements with dedicated leather cleaner and conditioner.
