Marlborough Antiques & Interiors has dated these Antique Mahogany Dining Chairs to the Victorian era.
Each chair features a gently curved rectangular top rail, beautifully ornamented with contrasting geometric inlay, above an open back incorporating a shaped horizontal splat centred by a distinctive square geometric motif.

The chairs stand on elegant, gently swept legs and retain a warm, mellow mahogany colour, with a pleasing patina consistent with their age.
The generously proportioned seats have been upholstered in a soft grey linen, providing a subtle contemporary contrast to the richness of the mahogany and highlighting the chairs’ clean, architectural lines.

The geometric ornamentation displays an interesting influence of the Greek Revival and Aesthetic Movement, both fashionable during the latter part of the 19th century.
A particularly decorative and versatile set, equally suited to a traditional country house dining room or a more contemporary interior, where their understated elegance and distinctive inlaid detailing can be fully appreciated.
English, late 19th century, circa 1880–1900. Further Measurements : Seat Height 48 cm,
