London City Antiques has dated these Victorian Walnut Dining Chairs to the 1860s.

Each chair has a sweeping shaped crest rail centred by a carved floral motif, with further pierced and carved decoration across the lower back rail. The flowing outline of the back continues into the shaped uprights, creating a very elegant silhouette typical of high-quality mid-Victorian furniture.

The chairs stand on graceful cabriole front legs with carved detailing towards the feet, complemented by gently outswept rear legs. The walnut has developed a rich warm colour and attractive patina, which works particularly well against the lighter upholstered seats.

The generously shaped seats have been upholstered in a neutral cream and beige patterned fabric, giving the chairs a fresh appearance while allowing the carved walnut frames to remain the main focus.
A very pretty and highly usable set of Victorian dining chairs. Their decorative carved backs make them equally suitable around a dining table, dressing table or occasional table, while the neutral upholstery allows them to sit comfortably within both traditional and contemporary interiors.

Condition Report
In good antique condition with age-related marks, wear and minor imperfections consistent with their age and use. The walnut has a lovely colour and patina and the upholstery presents well.
