London City Antiques has dated these Victorian Walnut Dining Chairs to the 1860s.
This is an independent date report produced by Sellingantiques using its own proprietary system. The process uses the photographs shown on this page. The system is never told the date the dealer has declared. This report shows that the two dates corroborate.

Each chair has an elegantly curved balloon-shaped backrest, crafted from walnut with a lovely warm colour and attractive natural grain. The backs are particularly decorative, featuring finely carved scrolling foliage and pierced detailing to both the upper and lower sections. The flowing lines and delicate carving create a wonderfully light and elegant appearance.

The generously proportioned seats have attractive serpentine-shaped fronts and are upholstered in a charming fruit-patterned woven fabric, featuring soft shades of pink, green and cream. The upholstery is neatly finished with decorative braid around the edges, complementing the warm tones of the walnut frames.

The chairs stand on beautifully shaped cabriole front legs, terminating in delicate scroll feet, with gently swept rear legs providing an elegant silhouette. The combination of curved backs, decorative carving and graceful legs is typical of the refined furniture designs popular during the Victorian period.

A particularly attractive and well-matched set of four antique dining chairs, ideal for use around a dining table or as occasional seating in a drawing room, bedroom or period interior. Their beautifully carved walnut frames and elegant proportions make them both practical and decorative.

Condition: Good antique condition, with minor age-related marks and wear consistent with age and use. The walnut retains a lovely warm colour and patina.
