French Antique Company has dated this French Gilt Wood Mirror to the 18th Century.
It dates from around 1780.
It has its magnificent real gilt on gesso frame with ornate shell and floral crest with no chips.
It has its lovely original mercury glass with no scratches. Mercury glass was not made after 1840 and gives an incomparable sparkle. It was the glass used in all the Palace of Versailles mirrors.
It has all its original backboards.
