Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of mid-Victorian show frame nursing chairs dates from 1870 and belongs to the English Country House style. Constructed from solid walnut with a brown timber finish and crisp carved decorations on the cresting, the chairs stand on cabriole legs and display deep buttoning on their tall backs. They are newly re-upholstered in pink silk damask fabric with patterned upholstery. The larger armchair measures 93 cm high, 72 cm wide, and 52 cm deep. These pieces work well as accent seating in a traditional living room, bedroom, or dressing area. Their compact proportions make them suitable for sitting beside a fireplace or at the corner of a room, adding period character and soft colour to an interior scheme while providing comfortable occasional seating.

A Victorian nursing chair is a low-seated chair, often designed without arms or with low open arms, originally created to facilitate childcare and nursing in 19th-century bedrooms and nurseries.

These chairs were predominantly crafted from hardwoods such as walnut, rosewood, or mahogany, featuring hand-carved details, serpentine frames, coil springs, and traditional padding beneath woven damask or velvet upholstery.

Authentic 19th-century walnut chairs feature hand-carved decorative crestings, period-appropriate joinery such as mortise and tenon joints, original brass castors on cabriole legs, and natural ageing on the timber.

These low-profile seating options function effectively as accent chairs in a bedroom, dressing room, or drawing room, paired with minimalist side tables to balance period detail with modern aesthetics.

Timber frames should be dusted regularly with a soft microfibre cloth and treated periodically with beeswax polish, while fabric upholstery should be gently vacuumed and kept out of direct sunlight to prevent fading.
