A Fine Handwoven Cane Armchair By Dryad Of Leicester, 1920's

£145    $196    €171
Dryad was founded by Harry Peach (1874-1936) to compete with high quality woven cane furniture imported from Germany. The firm produced its first chairs in 1907. Benjamin Fletcher, Head Master of the Leicester School of Arts, was the principal designer.

This example has spent much of its life outside and the cane has weathered to a uniform silver colour. There are is one particular area of concentrated wear to the seat, but the chair is still usable and with a loose seat cushion the weight of the sitter would be more evenly dispersed. There are also losses to the bindings of the stretchers.

Reliable transport throughout the UK can be easily arranged at cost price. Please let me know if you have any questions.
