This set of six early 19th century English Regency dining chairs follows a classical architectural style with dark brown beech frames, sabre legs, and elaborate brass mounts. Each chair incorporates brass inlay on the top rail with an inset carrying handle, flower head detailing on the back rails, splats, and seat rails. The seats are covered in a pale olive green upholstered fabric. They measure 83 cm high, 47 cm wide, and 51 cm deep. These chairs serve as dining seating around a table in a formal dining room or entertaining space. The versatile arrangement of six allows them to function together as a matched set or separately as accent seating throughout a traditional home interior.

English Regency chairs, popular between 1811 and 1830, are characterised by classical Greco-Roman forms, sabre legs, brass marquetry or inlay, and brass crest rail handles.

Cabinetmakers during the Regency period predominantly used dense hardwoods such as rosewood, mahogany, or dark-stained fruitwood, decorated with brass mounts and inlaid motifs.

Authentic period examples feature hand-cut joinery, original flush brass handles, delicate cut-brass marquetry, hand-carved mid-rails, and a natural aged patina.

These structured, dark wood chairs can be paired with a simple modern oak or glass dining table to provide a crisp historical contrast within a contemporary setting.

Dust surfaces regularly with a soft dry cloth, maintain stable humidity levels to prevent wood movement, and avoid harsh abrasive metal polishes near delicate brass inlays.
