Pair Of French Painted Armchairs C.1900

A pair of elegant French carved and painted open armchairs c.1900. Oval back rests carved with a three feathers motif and cloth swags. Slim curving arms on swept supports. Sprung seats upholstered in a Regency stripe silk fabric. Shaped and fluted rails below the seat and raised on turned and fluted legs with carved detail the tops front and rear. Some obvious wear to the paintwork which is rubbed through in places to reveal grey underpainting and the hardwood frame below. Serviceable covers with some small watermarks and minor wear. Solid and sturdy with good firm springs in the seats.
