This Victorian dressing table mirror dates from 1860 in the English Country House style, formed from rich mahogany, clear glass and cast brass with a warm brown timber colour. The rectangular mirror glass sits within a plain moulded wooden frame suspended between two upright turned supports decorated with spiral twist carvings and small turned finials at the summit, held by side knobs that allow the frame to tilt. A horizontal stretcher bar with central barley twist decoration spans the top of the columns. The serpentine front base contains three small drawers fitted with original brass ring handles shaped as lion masks, supported by fluted columnar feet at the front corners. Practical dimensions measure 68 cm high, 61 cm wide and 25 cm deep. The piece sits well atop a bedroom chest of drawers, a large antique sideboard or a writing desk to provide a functional mirror for daily grooming.
