Description:
A good quality antique Italian late 19th century oval Florentine wall mirror, featuring an open carved acanthus leaf giltwood frame, circa 1890, in excellent condition. The Italian wall mirror is decorated with an elaborately floral and acanthus leaf hand-carved open frame, incorporating pierced sections to the border, retaining the original finished giltwood frame. The Florentine wall mirror includes a replacement plate-glass mirror and hanging rope, which is in good condition. Wall mirrors of this period and design were usually constructed of pine, before a gesso and gilded finish was applied. The carving to the frame is crisp with a pleasantly balanced gilded finish to produce a lovely patination. This Florentine wall mirror is a good practical size, measuring 1ft 10?” x 1ft 1½”, allowing it to be used in most in most locations, in either a landscape or portrait position, to enhance any room. The Florentine wall mirror would look superb in either a traditional or contemporary setting, in most rooms and can be hung in either a portrait or landscape position. A good quality antique Italian late 19th century oval Florentine wall mirror, featuring an open carved acanthus leaf giltwood frame, circa 1890, in excellent condition. The frame, the carvings are original, in good sturdy condition. Nominal old use marks, to the leading edges of the frame. Importantly, there is no damage or missing pieces to the carvings. The plate mirror and hanging cord has been replaced and is in good condition.
