South Staffordshire enamel boxes gained prominence during the mid-to-late eighteenth century in English metalworking centres such as Bilston and Wednesbury. Craftsmen produced small decorative containers decorated with miniature landscapes, pastoral figures, and botanical studies for holding snuff, patches, or pills.
