A Windsor chair is characterised by a solid wooden seat into which the legs and back spindles are directly inserted, featuring a distinctive curved back construction.

They were typically constructed using a combination of native timbers, frequently featuring elm for the carved seats, ash or beech for the bentwood bows and spindles, and fruitwood or elm for the legs.

Authentic pieces exhibit traditional joinery techniques such as wedged through-tenons, hand-carved saddle seats with appropriate wear patterns, and natural patina consistent with age.

They function effectively as accent seating or around a dining table, introducing texture and historical contrast into minimalist or modern schemes.

Maintain them by avoiding direct sunlight and excessive heat sources, applying occasional microcrystalline wax to nourish the wood, and dusting with a dry cloth.
