This child's Windsor armchair dates from around 1800, representing the Georgian period and a rustic farmhouse style. The piece uses a combination of elm, ash, and yew timbers finished in a warm brown colour with visible wood grain. The design includes a continuous hoop back, a central pierced splat with scalloped edges, and curved wooden armrests supported by small turned spindles and baluster uprights. A solid wooden saddle seat rests upon four splayed, turned legs joined underneath by a distinctive curved crinoline stretcher. Surface signs of age and historic use appear across the timber, alongside slight wear to the warm brown finish. Dimensions for this small children's seat measure approximately 50 cm in width, 45 cm in depth, and 70 cm in height, making it suitable for compact spaces. Today, this chair works well as a decorative accent piece or display item in a living room, hallway, or child's bedroom.

A Windsor chair features a solid wooden seat into which the chair back and legs are socketed, while a crinoline stretcher is a curved wooden support bent into a horseshoe shape to reinforce the legs without obstructing the legs of the sitter.

Traditional Windsor chairs often utilised a combination of native hardwoods, such as elm for the shaped saddle seat, steam-bent yew or ash for the bow back, and oak or beech for the turned legs and spindles.

Authentic Georgian Windsor chairs typically display hand-shaved spindles, pegged joints rather than modern metal screws, natural wear on the handrests, and a saddle-shaped seat carved from a single piece of timber.

A miniature Windsor chair functions as a decorative floor sculpture in an entryway, a plant display stand in a living room corner, or an accent piece alongside contemporary bedroom furnishings.

Preserve the timber by dusting regularly with a dry cloth and applying a natural beeswax polish once or twice a year, avoiding direct heat sources and liquid chemical cleaners.
