A simply glorious piece, this chair has the best carving in the top I have ever seen bare none, it is literally my life motto since reading it which is as follows ''To Rest Is Our Reward, To Work Our Privilege'' with a central plaque in copper reading the name Jessie. This work looks to have been done later in the Arts & Crafts era. I can honestly say I love this chair and never want to let it go, the new owners will no doubt enjoy it greatly
The chair has been fully restored as mentioned, the leather upholstery is all new Italian leather hide, it is f
...ully aniline leather which is specially treated and upholstered plain, the hide has then been hand dyed six times, antiqued, sealed, waxed down and polished, the frame has had a light French polish, the seat cushion is also new, its feather filled and has five Thomas Chippendale style floating buttons
This chair is very important and belongs in a museum, it is pure quality and sophistication throughout
