A set of four George III mahogany salon or dining chairs in the French taste, each with an upholstered oval backrest with moulded edge and ropetwist border, with fluted supports to a generous stuffover seat with ropetwist seatrail and with corner paterae over fluted tapering supports terminating in bulb feet. Currently upholstered in pale blue silk with matching braid. English, circa 1780.
Condition: Overall very good, the chairs are all in good condition, solid and robust and comfortable to sit on. Each has had some repair to the seatrail to reinforce them, however the chairs are in excellent usable condition, and overall they have good colour and patina. The fabric is in reasonable condition with no tears however there are some faint marks and slight discolouration, although the upholstery beneath is in perfectly sound condition.
