This French 1920s shop display cabinet originates from the Art Deco period, attributed to Parisian maker Siegel. The construction combines a solid brass frame with glazed panels, adjustable internal glass shelves supported by keyhole tracking brackets, and a later dark steel base with square uprights and a low stretcher frame. The transparent glass exposes the structural brass uprights and internal brackets clearly through the front and sides. Measuring 167 cm high, 112 cm wide, and 27 cm deep, this freestanding unit serves as a display cabinet within a home. The narrow profile suits placement against walls in hallways, living rooms, or dining spaces to exhibit collections behind glass.

FAQs

Produced for commercial establishments, 1920s French display cabinets feature slim brass frames, full glass panelling, and adjustable internal shelving engineered to maximise light transmission and product visibility.

These cabinets typically incorporate extruded brass or nickel-plated framework, float glass panels, metal ratchets for shelf support, and painted or polished iron bases.

Authentic Siegel cabinets frequently feature maker stamps or brass plaques bearing the Paris manufacturer name, alongside precision keyhole bracket tracking and slim mitred corner joins.

A brass glazed cabinet serves as a functional focal point in a dining room or living space for displaying ceramics, collectibles, or books, introducing structured geometry against neutral walls.

Glass surfaces should be cleaned with a microfibre cloth and ammonia-free solution. The brass frame requires dry wiping to preserve the natural aged surface without removing natural patination.
