Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This 1930 Central European Modern dining chair employs steam-bent beech and moulded plywood with a dark brown finish. The side chair has a curved backrest fitted with vertical back slats, a ribbed wooden seat, and curved leg supports beneath a rounded seat base measuring 45 cm wide by 45 cm deep. Surface wear appears on the wooden components alongside natural grain variations and subtle scuffs from past use. Practical for everyday dining around a kitchen table or as an occasional seat in a hallway or bedroom, the sturdy wooden frame integrates smoothly into rustic farmhouse or modern interiors. The compact footprint makes it suitable for smaller spaces where extra seating is required without crowding the room.

FAQs

Polish bentwood chairs originate from Central European steam-bending traditions influenced by 19th and 20th-century industrial manufacturing, particularly associated with factories in regions like Radomsko.

These chairs were primarily constructed using solid beechwood, chosen because its long fibres bend reliably under steam pressure, paired with pressed plywood or slatted timber for the seat panels.

Authentic pieces frequently display paper maker labels or heat stamps on the underside of the seat frame, alongside characteristic curved steam-bent support structure and original bolt joinery.

A single bentwood chair functions effectively as an accent seat beside a writing desk, tucked into an entry hall, or grouped as mismatched seating around a rustic dining table.

To preserve the finish, clean the timber periodically with a soft, slightly damp cloth and apply natural beeswax polish to nourish the wood and prevent drying.
