Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This nineteenth-century Chinese side cabinet displays a dark brown elm timber finish with an aged surface patina. The form features a rectangular top over two upper drawers fitted with circular brass drop handles and central locking plates. Below, three recessed lower panels sit above a shaped and carved wooden apron, flanked by scrolling spandrels on the sides and supported by straight upright legs. Measuring 84 cm high by 117 cm wide by 61 cm deep, the piece offers a compact profile suited for display and storage. Practical storage capacity makes this cabinet useful in a hallway, living room, or dining area as a surface for lamps, decorative items, or serving dishes. The traditional design and dark timber tones suit both period interiors and eclectic spaces seeking functional antique furniture with character.

Nineteenth-century Chinese elm furniture is defined by its use of durable northern or southern elm wood, traditional mortise and tenon joinery, and functional designs often featuring brass faceplates and decorative apron carving.

These cabinets were constructed from solid timbers such as elm, pine, or zelkova, assembled using interlocking wooden joinery without nails, and fitted with hand-hammered brass or iron handles and backplates.

Authentic pieces exhibit natural wear along high-contact edges, visible hand-cut joinery marks, historical patination beneath lacquer surfaces, and aged metal fittings showing organic oxidisation.

A Chinese side cabinet functions effectively as an entryway console, dining room sideboard, or hallway accent piece, contrasting structured wooden framework against modern wall art and understated decor.

Maintain the timber by dusting regularly with a dry cloth, placing the object away from direct heat sources or rapid humidity fluctuations, and periodically applying a high-quality beeswax polish.
