FAQs

A Windsor chair is a classic form of wooden seating originating in England during the early 18th century, characterised by turned legs and vertical back spindles anchored directly into a solid wooden seat.

Traditional English Windsor chairs typically feature solid elm seats due to the cross-grained strength of the wood, combined with fruitwood, ash, or beech for turned legs, stretchers, and bentwood bows.

Authentic antique Windsor chairs often feature hand-shaped saddle seats, hand-turned spindles, wedged tenon joinery, and natural wear patterns on the armrests and front stretchers.

An antique Windsor chair functions as a distinct accent piece in contemporary living spaces, dining rooms, or home offices, offering organic texture alongside modern furniture.

Maintain an antique wooden chair by dusting regularly with a dry cloth, applying high-quality beeswax polish occasionally, and keeping it away from direct heat sources and extreme humidity changes.
