Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Arts and Crafts movement oak wall cabinet, dating from 1910, is constructed from medium brown timber with a distinct grain and fitted with a single door featuring a pyrography panel depicting a young man with a pipe. The exterior displays shaped side supports, crescent cutouts, and a small metal ring pull handle, alongside an open upper shelf below a top surface. Measuring 40 cm high, 46 cm wide, and 47 cm deep, the compact dimensions suit a narrow wall space in a gentleman's library or study. Practical for modern interior settings, the small wall-mounted cupboard provides storage for small personal items while adding period character to a hallway, study, or living room wall. The sturdy oak construction makes it suitable for everyday use in compact domestic spaces where traditional woodwork and decorative panels complement vintage or eclectic decor schemes.

FAQs

Originating in the late 19th century, Arts and Crafts furniture emphasizes traditional craftsmanship, structural honesty, and functional design over mass production. Pieces feature visible joinery, native hardwoods like oak, and stylized organic or geometric motifs.

These cabinets were primarily constructed from solid oak, walnut, or ash, often highlighted with hand-hammered copper or iron metalwork. Decorative elements frequently included pyrography, painted wood panels, or stained glass inlays.

Authentic pieces display signs of hand construction, such as mortise and tenon joints, quarter-sawn oak grain patterns, original patinated ironwork, and subtle hand-cut panel details rather than uniform machine finishing.

Mounting the cabinet in an entryway, study, or hallway provides functional storage while adding warm timber tones. It pairs effectively with neutral painted walls, simple ceramics, and muted architectural lighting.

Regular light dusting with a dry microfibre cloth removes surface particles. To preserve the original finish, apply a thin coat of natural beeswax polish annually, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners or placement near direct heat sources.
