This rare wall cabinet from around 1920 reflects the Arts and Crafts style, constructed from solid walnut with a warm brown finish. The piece comprises an open top shelf above twin panelled cupboard doors, rounded upright ends, and exposed peg joinery along the side panels. A small brass key protrudes from the working lock on the left-hand door, and metal hanging brackets are mounted to the right upright. Measuring Height: 63cm, Width: 57cm, Depth: 16cm, the cabinet is preserved in its original finish. Today, this hanging wall cabinet provides practical storage while occupying minimal floor space. It suits placement on a narrow wall space in a study, library, hallway, or living room. The open top shelf accommodates display items, while the enclosed cabinet below conceals small household objects.

FAQs

Arts and Crafts wall cabinets feature clean geometric lines, honest joinery, and functional proportions designed to showcase the natural wood grain rather than applied surface decoration.

Craftsmen typically constructed these pieces from solid walnut, oak, or mahogany, utilizing mortise and tenon joinery, exposed pegs, and fitted panel doors for structural integrity.

Authentic period examples exhibit hand-fitted joints, original brass hardware with natural surface patination, smooth hand-finished timber, and subtle wear consistent with age.

Mounting a walnut wall cabinet above a sideboard or within an alcove creates functional vertical storage while introducing rich timber tones to neutral wall schemes.

Regularly wipe the surfaces with a dry microfiber cloth and apply a thin layer of natural beeswax polish annually to protect the original finish from drying out.
