We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Victorian Gothic Revival movement emerged in the mid-19th century, drawing inspiration from medieval architecture and design motifs such as pointed arches, quatrefoils, and heavy carved woodwork.

These pieces were typically crafted from solid hardwoods like oak or mahogany, frequently featuring turned wooden components, iron or brass swivel mechanisms, and woven cane or leather seat inserts.

Authentic period pieces display traditional joinery, hand-carved detailing, heavy iron or wood-threaded spindle mechanisms underneath, and natural oxidisation consistent with nineteenth-century manufacturing techniques.

An antique swivel chair adds historic character when paired with a sleek, minimalist modern desk or used as an accent chair in a study to create an eclectic contrast.

Maintain the wood by keeping it away from direct heat sources and sunlight, applying occasional micro-crystalline wax to nourish the finish, and gently dusting with a dry cloth.
