This Edwardian desk chair dates from circa 1910 and belongs to the gentleman's library style. It is made from solid oak with a warm brown timber finish and stands on a cast iron mechanism with brass castors. Details include a broad curved backrest, straight vertical slats, shaped wooden armrests on swept supports, a contoured saddle seat, and a quadruped base. The four-footed base holds small brass wheels at each foot, while a threaded central metal column provides height adjustment. The timber shows grain patterns with a polished surface. The piece measures 81.5 cm high, 57 cm wide, and 61 cm deep. Today, this chair functions as a practical seating option for a home office, study, or library desk. Its swivel and height-adjustable mechanisms make it suitable for daily computer work or writing tasks in a traditional domestic interior. The compact footprint allows it to slide underneath standard desk heights when not in use.

Revolving desk chairs from this era typically feature a central iron spindle mechanism, enabling 360-degree rotation and height adjustment, constructed alongside a solid timber frame and slatted backrest.

These chairs were predominantly crafted using solid hardwoods such as oak or mahogany, paired with cast iron mechanical components for the swivel and tilt base.

Authentic period examples usually exhibit heavy cast iron tension springs, stamped patent marks on the mechanical core, and natural age-related surface wear on the timber armrests.

An oak revolving chair functions as functional seating paired with a contemporary desk in a home office or library setting, balancing traditional woodwork with modern minimalist decor.

Regular application of beeswax polish maintains the timber moisture, while light machine oil applied periodically to the iron swivel mechanism ensures smooth rotation.
