Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Art Deco swivel desk chair dates from around 1900, constructed from oak and iron with a warm brown finish. It stands on a splayed four-legged base with an adjustable iron swivel mechanism supporting a sculptured seat. The upper section comprises a curving back top rail, vertical slats, and arching shepherd's crook armrests. Visible details include grain variation across the timber components and functional metal fittings beneath the seat structure. The piece measures 89 cm high, 69 cm wide, and 69 cm deep, with a variable back height from the ground. Suitable for a traditional study or gentleman's library setting, this desk chair provides functional seating at a partner desk or writing table. The revolving design and adjustable height mechanism offer ergonomic utility for regular workspace tasks. Its compact footprint fits comfortably beneath standard desk overhangs while maintaining structural stability through its wide-set wooden legs. The classic wood tones coordinate with dark timber furniture schemes in residential study spaces.

FAQs

Art Deco desk chairs from the early to mid-20th century combine functional ergonomic seating with clean geometric lines, swept armrests, and contoured timber frames crafted for professional environments.

These chairs were constructed using solid hardwoods such as oak, beech, or walnut, combined with cast iron central screw mechanisms that allowed for height adjustment and rotation.

Authentic period desk chairs feature heavy metal swivel mechanisms, visible mortise and tenon joinery, original wood grain variations, and natural wear patterns on the armrests and base legs.

A vintage wooden swivel chair offers visual weight and texture when set alongside a modern minimalist desk, industrial metal furniture, or traditional fitted library shelving.

Apply natural beeswax polish regularly to preserve the hardwood surface, and lubricate the central iron screw thread with light machine oil to maintain smooth swivelling operation.
