This large Victorian Rococo Revival wall mirror dates from 1870 and follows a French Chateau style. It comprises an oval giltwood and composition frame finished in original gold leaf oil gilding with a mellow look, paired with an original mercury silvered glass mirror plate that shows very good condition without major foxing, plus an original backing board and hanging plates. The ornate frame exhibits detailed relief carving, including elaborate scrollwork cresting at the top, a matching pendant apron at the base, and beaded moulding surrounding the central glass plate, alongside symmetrical side cartouches and side finials. Measuring 133 cm high by 85 cm wide, the mirror suits domestic placement above a mantelpiece in a living room, or as a focal point in a hallway or bedroom.
