Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

French bedside cabinets, often referred to as petit commodes, gained popularity during the 18th and 19th centuries in elite Parisian homes as functional storage for chamber items and personal belongings.

These pieces typically feature solid timber frames with decorative wood veneers such as kingwood or walnut, intricate parquetry or marquetry inlay, cast brass or bronze mounts, and inset marble slabs on the top surface.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints in the drawer construction, traditional wood movement allowances, genuine hand-polished patination, and cast metal hardware consistent with historical manufacturing methods.

These cabinets introduce warmth and texture to modern bedrooms when juxtaposed against minimalist headboards, or they can serve as sophisticated accent tables in a neutral living room.

Clean wooden surfaces with a soft, dry cloth and apply natural beeswax periodically, while maintaining marble tops using a damp microfibre cloth and a neutral pH stone cleaner to prevent acid staining.
