Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

These bedside tables are French Provincial pieces from the 1930 period, constructed from oak with a warm brown wood finish. Each unit stands on tall cabriole legs and includes a single top drawer fitted with a small round handle, along with an open lower shelf beneath. The structural design incorporates scalloped aprons on both the upper and lower framing edges. Visible details include straight side panels and gently curved vertical lines. In a contemporary home, these bedside tables suit placement beside a bed in a bedroom. The proportions measure 40 cm wide by 25 cm deep by 77 cm high, offering a compact footprint suitable for narrow spaces while providing surface and storage utility.

FAQs

French bedside tables from the 1930s, often referred to as chevet tables, typically feature slender proportions, functional storage options such as top drawers or open alcoves, and elegant cabriole or tapered legs.

These pieces were traditionally crafted using solid hardwoods such as oak, walnut, or beech, utilizing standard joinery techniques like dovetail drawer joints and carved aprons.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut or early machine joinery, natural aged patina across oak surfaces, original hardware, and refined proportions characteristic of early 20th-century French craftsmanship.

Pair these tall, slim cabinets alongside contemporary upholstered beds to create visual balance, topped with simple ceramic lamps or brass accessories to complement the warm wood tones.

Dust regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the original finish and timber moisture without building up residue.
