Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This matching pair of French Provincial bedside tables dates from the 1930 period, constructed from solid oak with a medium brown timber tone. Each slender table stands on four curved cabriole legs supporting a tall rectangular body with rounded edges. Three horizontal drawers stack vertically on the front of each unit, fitted with simple dark metal knobs. A shaped raised gallery runs along the top edges, enclosing a flat surface. Minor signs of age appear on the warm wooden grain, showing the character of decades past while remaining in very good structural condition. Practical for contemporary home interiors, these bedside tables suit placement beside a low bed or in a compact guest bedroom where floor space is limited. The compact proportions provide convenient bedside storage for nighttime essentials without overwhelming the surrounding layout. Each table measures 33.5 cm wide by 26 cm deep by 74.5 cm high, fitting neatly into tight alcoves or narrow wall gaps. The understated French chateau aesthetic complements traditional and transitional bedroom schemes alike.

FAQs

French provincial furniture from this era frequently incorporates traditional 18th-century Cabriole leg designs combined with practical 20th-century storage solutions, featuring hand-crafted oak joinery and understated curves.

Traditional pieces are constructed primarily from solid oak timber, featuring dovetail drawer joints, brass or wooden drawer knobs, and solid side panels built for structural durability.

Look for indicators such as hand-cut or early machine dovetailing on drawer joints, natural timber oxidisation, patination on hardware, and subtle regional proportions in the leg shaping.

Position one table on each side of an upholstered or timber bed frame, topped with modern ceramic reading lamps or minimalist decorative items to contrast classic woodwork with contemporary elements.

Apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year following the direction of the grain, wipe liquid spills immediately with a dry cloth, and avoid positioning the timber near direct heat sources.
