Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of 1930 French Provincial bedside cabinets uses warm brown cherry wood with a repolished finish, complemented by brass ring pulls. Each piece employs single drawer construction beneath an overhanging rectangular top, raised on turned supports and shaped feet. The clean lines and traditional materials lend a classic aesthetic suited to a French Chateau interior design vibe. Measuring 51.5 cm high, 40 cm wide, and 30 cm deep, these bedside tables fit easily into smaller spaces. They work well placed at the side of a bed or used at the end of a sofa to provide a surface for lamps and books while offering concealed storage.

FAQs

French provincial cherry wood furniture originated in the 18th century, crafted by regional artisans adapting Parisian styles using native hardwoods. The design is recognised for its balance of practical utility and simple elegance, often featuring turned legs, modest moulding, and warm natural timber finishes.

These cabinets are constructed from solid cherry wood, selected for its tight grain and warm tone. Drawer assemblies typically utilise hand-cut dovetail joints, accompanied by turned wooden leg supports and cast brass ring pull handles.

Authenticity is indicated by structural details such as hand-planed drawer linings, irregular joint construction, and authentic wear around handles and lower legs. Natural age manifests as a deep patination in the cherry wood from exposure to light over decades.

A pair of cherry wood tables can flank an upholstered bed to introduce natural warmth and historical depth to a modern bedroom. Alternatively, the individual pieces function effectively as small side tables positioned beside living room seating or within an entryway alcove.

Maintain cherry wood furniture by dusting regularly with a clean, dry microfibre cloth and applying a clear beeswax polish periodically to maintain the surface timber finish. Position the furniture away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent uneven fading and wood movement.
