FAQs

Faux bamboo pieces gained immense popularity in Europe during the 19th century, heavily influenced by Asian design motifs introduced through trade and international exhibitions.

Craftsmen typically carved solid hardwoods, such as beech or pine, to replicate the segmented nodes and textures of natural bamboo before applying varnishes or painted finishes.

Authentic pieces often feature period-appropriate joinery, hand-carved node details with minor irregularities, aged mirror plates with foxing, and old backing boards secured with traditional fixings.

This piece can serve as a striking focal point above a mantelpiece or console table, adding organic texture and historical contrast to contemporary minimalist schemes.

Keep the item out of direct sunlight to prevent wood fading, dust the frame gently with a dry cloth, and avoid spraying glass cleaner directly onto the mirror surface to protect the vintage backing.
