Edwardian furniture, produced during the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, often lighter and less ornate than Victorian pieces, draws inspiration from earlier 18th-century Sheraton and Hepplewhite designs.

These chairs typically feature solid mahogany frames, traditional coil spring upholstery, horsehair stuffing, and hand-tacked webbing, supported by tapered legs often fitted with brass castors.

Authenticity is identified through period-appropriate timber patination, traditional hand-cut joinery, old upholstery methods beneath newer fabric, and subtle wear consistent with early 20th-century manufacture.

Antique tub chairs add historic character to modern spaces when paired with minimalist coffee tables, neutral textured rugs, and contrasting contemporary textiles to bridge historical and modern aesthetics.

Preservation requires keeping wooden frames away from direct sunlight and heat sources, applying occasional high-quality beeswax to nourish the mahogany, and using professional vacuuming or cleaning methods for the upholstery.
