Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

French neoclassical furniture, popular during the late 18th century and revived in the 19th century, draws inspiration from classical Greek and Roman design, featuring clean architectural lines, symmetry, and restrained ornamentation compared to the preceding Rococo style.

These pieces are typically constructed from solid hardwoods such as beech or walnut, finished with hand-carved details, gesso layers, and applied gold leaf for gilding, alongside traditional upholstered seats using horsehair or cotton stuffing.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-carved woodwork rather than cast resin, genuine gold leaf showing signs of ageing and wear, traditional joinery methods such as mortise and tenon, and period-appropriate textile fixings.

These compact statement pieces work effectively as decorative accents in a living room or bedroom, pairing contrasting modern minimalist elements with historical craftsmanship to create visual depth.

Gilded surfaces require delicate care, dusting gently with a soft dry cloth and avoiding all liquid cleaners, abrasive chemicals, or direct sunlight to prevent the fragile gold leaf and paintwork from flaking.
