Originating in Punjab during the 19th century, Hoshiarpur woodwork is characterised by intricate hand-carved geometric lattice patterns and micro-mosaic inlays, often featuring bone, brass, or shisham wood.

Traditional items utilise dense hardwoods such as shisham or rosewood, combined with contrasting light-coloured bone, horn, or metal wire inlay set in precise geometric arrangements.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-carved variations, aged patination on the wood, oxidized metal or yellowed bone inlay, and early backboards secured with handmade screws or nails.

Pair the highly textured piece with minimalist, neutral walls and sleek modern furniture to allow the craftsmanship and intricate geometric details to serve as a focal point.

Dust gently with a dry, soft cloth, avoiding commercial chemical polishes or excessive moisture that can loosen delicate bone or metal inlays from the wood.
