The George III style spans the late 18th century, characterised by a transition from heavier mahogany designs influenced by Thomas Chippendale to lighter, neoclassical aesthetics inspired by Robert Adam.

Cabinet makers predominantly used dense hardwoods like mahogany and oak, prized for their strength, rich grain, and ability to hold crisp carved details.

Authenticity is determined by inspecting traditional joinery methods such as hand-cut mortise and tenon joints, signs of age-related timber shrinkage, and the characteristic patina developed over centuries of use.

An antique hall chair serves as a striking sculptural accent piece when placed against a minimalist wall or used as a standalone seat in an entryway to create a focal point.

Preserve the timber by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and maintain the finish by applying natural beeswax sparingly while avoiding modern silicone-based polishes.
