We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

Victorian mirrors and sconces typically feature ornate detailing, combining materials such as cast or pressed brass, dark ebonised woods, and bevelled glass plates to create a sense of weight and opulence.

These items commonly utilise hand-beaten or stamped sheet brass, turned timber frames, and hand-bevelled glass mirrors, often incorporating functional candle arms secured with robust metal fixings.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit period construction hallmarks such as hand-cut bevelled mirror glass with minor foxing, heavy patination on the brass components, and traditional joinery or fixings on the reverse.

They can be hung flanking a fireplace, above a console table, or on a narrow wall space to reflect natural light while adding historical texture and ambient candlelight to contemporary schemes.

Clean wooden frames with a dry, soft cloth and maintain the brass surfaces using a gentle, non-abrasive cleaner while avoiding harsh chemical solvents that could damage the historic patina.
